We deeply appreciate all you have done for our patients, our staff and for Huntsville.

In 2004, Dr. Richard Gualtieri became the founder and CEO of The Cancer Center of Huntsville, PC. Under his care and guidance the practice has successfully grown into a four physician group.

Dr. Gualtieri received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Columbia College in NY in 1973, and his doctor of medicine form the College of Physicians and Surgeons from Columbia University in 1977. He completed an internship and residency in medicine at University of Virginia Hospital, where he also completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology in 1984. He is a diplomate of The American board of Internal Medicine and is board certified in both internal medicine and hematology/oncology.

In 1984 he began his career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Later he became an Associate Scientist in the Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Dr. Gualtieri worked in private practice in Hematology/Oncology with Oncology Specialties, PC , located in Huntsville, AL, from 1988 until 2004 when he founded The Cancer Center of Huntsville, PC.

Dr. Gualtieri retired after 12 years of hard work and dedication to making The Cancer Center of Huntsville successful. We would like to thank him for building such a strong foundation, and we are honored to continue to build upon his legacy.
