The Cancer Center of Huntsville, P.C.

Additional Support Services

Our Purpose

The main purpose of The Cancer Center of Huntsville is to administer oncology and hematology services. However, there are many important needs to be addressed. The patient and family often need assistance with medical and insurance paperwork, financial advice, logistics of lodging, etc.

Patient Financial Assistance

Our financial counselor will assist you in various areas of financial need. If you are underinsured or uninsured she can help you obtain assistance through programs that you may qualify for that provide free drugs or co-pay assistance. She will ask you to bring in certain information that will be necessary to qualify you for these programs.

She will also meet with you when your plan of treatment is decided on and can give you information regarding your financial obligation for your treatment. She can work with you on your payments if necessary.

If you have questions about your bill when you receive a statement from us our financial counselor will answer those questions for you as well.

She will provide assistance by helping you with paperwork for disability claims, Family Medical Leave, power of attorney, handicapped parking, and many other forms you may need to complete.

Assistance with Insurance Paperwork

Our insurance specialists will file your insurance claims each time you come in. If you have a cancer policy and provide that information to our front office specialists we will send you a completed claim form to send to your cancer policy provider so that you can get a check sent to you from that company.

Assistance in Arranging Home Health Care Services

Our nurses will assist with arranging home health care services. Your physician at TCC will talk to you about this service when it is determined to be necessary and will ask the nurse to arrange it.

Helping You Locate a Cancer Support Group

There are cancer support group links under the Education and Resources section of our website. There are also local groups that we will be providing access to, such as the American Cancer Society "Look Good Feel Good" program. These programs will be discussed with you at your visit.

Lodging and Supportive Companionship

We can work with you to provide lodging and supportive companionship for out-of-town patients and families at the Blount Hospitality House.

The Blount Hospitality House was the first hospitality house in the state of Alabama. It opened in 1980 as The Hospital Hospitality House of Huntsville, Inc. The present House, now called the Blount Hospitality House, was completed in 1988. The name of the house was changed to honor the tireless efforts and dedication of its original Executive Director, Mrs. Bernice Blount. During the past three decades, the House has served over 30,000 guests from 58 Alabama counties, 44 other states, and 13 foreign countries.
